Labradoodle History
The Labradoodle is a cross between a Labrador Retriever and Standard Poodle.
In the late 1980's the Royal Guide Dogs in Victoria, Ausralia set out to produce
a non-shedding dog suitable for service training. This was initiated by Wally Conran.
The cross of a labrador retriever and a standard poodle produced intelligent, easily trainable,
and loving puppies. Of the 31 labradoodles bred at Royal Guide Dogs a staggering 29 made it through
as guide dogs. Labradoodles have become highly sought after
by persons with disabilities, people with allergies to most other canines, and families all over
the world.
